Hanwha SolarOne

Hanwha Group is one of Korea’s top ten enterprises. In 2010, Hanwha Group achieved total assets of approximately USD83 billion and total sales of approximately USD 27 billion. Originally established in 1952 as an industrial explosives manufacturer, Hanwha Group has actively expanded its business scope through both organic growth and corporate acquisitions. The company has presence in Asia, Middle east, Europe, America & Africa. Hanwha Group is currently engaged in three core business areas: manufacturing/construction, finance and service/leisure.

After Hanwha Group took over Solarfun Power Holdings Co. Ltd.in 2010, it came to be known as Hanwha SolarOne. It is a renewable energy company listed on NASDAQ (HSOL). Hanwha SolarOne Co. Ltd. has become the flagship of the Hanwha Solar Network, throughout the PV value chain – from the production of polysilicon to project development and financing services.

Hanwha Modules

Hanwha SolarOne solar modules are ideal for on grid & off grid applications for:

Commercial – manufactures PV cells & modules for large-scale commercial and government solar applications, for 200 kW or greater, mounted on rooftops of buildings.

Residential – offers arrays mounted flat or at a fixed inclination on rooftops. Hanwha SolarOne has a wide range of solar products, including Black Diamond and BIPV modules such as SolarIris for residential and smaller commercial installations.

Utility-scale – the company can provide anything ranging from ground-mount solar installation with a tracking system in the desert, to a rooftop installation across several large structures in an urban are, with a proven track record for large (1 MW+) utility-scale solar projects.

High Quality Solar Modules HanwhaHanwha SolarOne solar modules are built using in-house produced cells that undergo rigorous materials testing before and during module production, through the 5S Lean manufacturing process. Prior to solar module assembly, each cell is individually inspected, tested to verify its standards.

Hanwha Solar Panels Features

Some of the distinguishing features of the Hanwha Solar modules are:

  • 3-Busbar Configuration – By decreasing the amount of space between busbars and the distance the current must travel, Hanwha SolarOne’s 3-busbar solar cells reduce current loss and increase cell power output.
  • Weather-resistant Solar Module Frame – The module frames are made of aluminum alloy and treated to corrosion resistant oxidation coating, for maximum endurance in rugged weather conditions.
  • EVA (ethylene-vinyl-acetate) – Uses very high quality EVA.
  • Durable Glass Surface – The glass surface of Hanwha solar modules provides great durability.

Types of Solar Modules

Costs & Affordability

Hanwha SolarOne makes one of the cheapest panels and sells it at a very low price. The quality is also quite good and with strong parentage behind it. Again like Trina Solar, it has very low cost Chinese manufacturing capacity. The cost of a 250 watt panel would be approximately 175 $ @ 70 cent per watt.
