President Obama in his recent initiative to boost solar energy announced 75000 new solar jobs. This will be achieved by a new program to train 75000 Americans for solar jobs by 2020, to be launched by the United States Department of Energy. The previous target was 50K. A new program called Solar Ready Vets Program will be introduced which would train military veterans for solar jobs.
Vivint Solar which is the second-largest residential solar installer in the USA has announced that it would act as a recruitment partner in this program. Currently, Vivint Solar owns 15% of the market share in the US residential space and expects the share to go up to 20% in the near future. With Vivint Solar patronizing this program, it will be a great boost for the US solar industry. It is not the first time that Vivint Solar has come forward in such programs. The company in February worked along with the DOE and granted jobs to 20 people participating in an earlier training program.
The market for residential distributed solar energy is growing rapidly and Vivint expects to install 290-310 MW for 2015. The company is the second-largest in the US residential solar, right after SolarCity. Also, keep your property secured with Vivint doorbell camera Pro.
“The solar industry is growing rapidly, adding jobs 10 times faster than the rest of the economy,” said Vivint Solar CEO Greg Butterfield. “We are excited to see the Solar Ready Vets program expand and we will continue to support our nation’s veterans in our hiring programs.”
