More Solar Plants, Supplies and Leasing Programs around the Globe

1) YGE supplies Solar Panels to largest PV power plant in Malaysia

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) has agreed to supply multicrystalline solar panels to a Malaysia based PV Power plant. The agreement is to supply approximately 41K YGE 60 cell series panels. They are expected to generate 13.6 million kWh of electricity yearly. YGE is one of our top solar investment picks for 2013. The company has made a smart move by eyeing the South eastern market since it has quality solar radiation, a Government inclined towards renewable energy and cities suffering from electricity problems.

2) Turkey to have a Solar Module factory by Sunenergy

China Sunenergy Co. Ltd. (CSUN) inaugurated a PV factory in Tuzla, in Istanbul, Turkey with a capacity of 120 MW. The plant boasts to be the largest one in Turkey. Depending upon Europe’s mandate on anti-dumping proceedings, the factory looks to expand into cell manufacturing as well. The plant will be better off than the CSUN facility in China, in terms of mechanization and quality with a view to reduce costs. The plant is located in the Trade Free Zone to ensure maximum tax benefits. The Turkey plant looks promising, with new expected installation of 3-4 GW of production capacity in the next three to four years.

3) Georgia Solar Utilities requested PSC to go Solar for Coal impacted Areas

Georgia Solar Utilities, Atlanta requested 0.5 GW of solar energy to power more than 200K homes in the coal plants impacted areas. Georgia Solar surely believes in the Solar energy future and presented their plan to the Public Service Commission. The decision will be pending till late June, when PSC will decide on the above. But it is surely a big move to ‘go green’ and cut down the hazards caused by coal usage.

4) Sunnova Energy and Affordable Solar enter into a partnership to be the first to offer Solar Leasing in New Mexico

A new solar leasing program was announced by Sunnova Energy and Affordable Solar to provide installation, repairing and insurance services for residentials in New Mexico at low monthly costs. The lease program excludes any upfront cost for solar power system for residential purpose. This way the customers can cut their energy costs and they are also given the freedom to choose the solar panels suiting their requirements. Both the companies are very happy with the partnership and the program will definitely bear fruits for the people of New Mexico.

5) The US Army to use electrical power from a PV generation system in Arizona

The U.S. Army is looking at procuring electrical power from a Photovoltaic PV generation system located at Fort Huachuca, Arizona to power Fort Huachuca Renewable Energy Project. The Government has made its intentions very clear that it wants to purchase only the energy that is produced by the PV system. The Government is looking for a third party developer to purchase the energy for up to 30 years.
