Latest EV News in India: August 2023

The electric vehicle market in India is growing rapidly, with new models being launched and more charging stations being built all the time. Here are some of the latest EV news from India:

  • Tata Motors to launch Punch EV, Harrier EV, Nexon EV facelift this year, Curvv EV to launch in 2024: Tata Motors, one of the leading automakers in India, has announced plans to launch a number of new EVs in the coming years. The Punch EV will be a sub-compact SUV, the Harrier EV will be a mid-size SUV, and the Nexon EV facelift will be a refreshed version of the popular Nexon EV. The Curvv EV will be a new electric SUV that will be launched in 2024.
  • Ather to launch three electric scooters in August: Ather Energy, a leading electric scooter manufacturer in India, will be launching three new electric scooters in August this year. The scooters are expected to be priced between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.5 lakh.

  • Audi RS6 sedan likely to return as an EV in 2025: Audi, the German luxury automaker, is reportedly planning to bring back the RS6 sedan as an electric vehicle in 2025. The new RS6 EV is expected to have a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge.
  • Electric cycles with LCD display: Hero Electric and Ampere Vehicles have launched two new electric cycles with LCD displays. The Hero Electric Photon and the Ampere Zeal E-cycle both have LCD displays that show the speed, battery level, and distance traveled. The Photon is priced at Rs. 15,999 and the Zeal E-cycle is priced at Rs. 16,499.

  • Tata Motors looking to have separate sales infra for its EV portfolio: Tata Motors is reportedly planning to have separate sales infrastructure for its EV portfolio. The company is currently selling its EVs through its existing dealerships, but it plans to set up dedicated EV showrooms and service centers in the coming years.

These are just a few of the latest EV news from India. The EV market in India is growing rapidly, and it is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. With more and more new models being launched and more charging stations being built, EVs are becoming a more viable option for Indian consumers.
