3 Tips For Hosting A More Sustainable Business Event

If you have a business that holds periodic events, you may have found that your commitment to being a sustainable and environmentally responsible business kind of gets thrown out the window during these events. But luckily, this doesn’t have to be the case. You can find ways to throw a great business event without having to sacrifice your sustainability goals.

To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for hosting a more sustainable business event.

Choose A Venue That Shares Your Goals

Despite your efforts to plan a business event that is sustainable, if you choose to work with partners or vendors that don’t share this same goal, a lot of your efforts will simply be for naught because of what others related to your event are doing. Knowing this, you should seek to choose partners, vendors, and a venue that shares your sustainability goals for your event.

If you’re able to choose a venue that you know has its own commitment to holding sustainable events, you won’t have to worry as much about them and their part of your event. This can make your own preparation a lot easier, as you’re going to have enough on your plate when planning your part of your event sustainably.

Avoid Single-Use Items

As you’re getting ready for your business event, one thing that you can do to help with sustainability is to avoid using any single-use items.

If you were able to find a venue that uses sustainable business practices itself, a lot of the items that are usually single-use at events might not even be available to you as single-use. So rather than using disposable tableware, use actual plates, silverware, and even martini glasses

Not only will not using single-use items help to make your event more sustainable and cut down on the garbage that’s produced as part of your event, but it can also help your event to look and feel more sophisticated as well.

Plan Well To Avoid Waste

Another part of business events that often produces a lot of waste is uneaten food. And while you could send any uneaten food home with your staff or others who were at the event, to save your organization money, it’s wise to try to plan as well as you can beforehand so that you simply don’t have any food waste to have to give away.

To do this, try to get an accurate count of how many people will be attending and what food you’ll need to provide for these people. This way, you won’t order or prepare more than is necessary for the people you’re planning to attend.

If you want your next business event to be more sustainable, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you learn how this goal can be accomplished.
