Ask Your Kids To Build A Green Wall This Summer

The Green Wall

Everyone is looking for some relief as the temperature is soaring in cities. I remember that it never used to be so hot when we were young and we would still love to play outdoors during our summer vacation. But given the changes in climatic conditions, it has become almost impossible for people to step out of their homes unless absolutely necessary. The kids have also started their summer vacation and end up getting bored indoors. As responsible citizens, it is important for us to teach our kids the values of nature and do what we can to protect the environment.

Green Wall - The Solar Garden

Green Wall – The Solar Garden

In a search for making my kid do something smart and green this summer, I came across the idea of building ‘a green wall’. It is a beautiful concept started by a group of people called the “Solar Garden” who are working hard to promote sustainability as well as environmental awareness and are influencing people in this regard.

Plastic bottles are being converted into beautiful planters and kids are encouraged to plant more plants. The whole process is very engaging and is contributing to the environment in a meaningful way, plus the kids are also enjoying the feeling of doing something responsible. The kids these days are well aware of the environmental pollution through lessons in their schools and discourage burning crackers even during Diwali. I am sure they will find this project very interesting. A video of the same is attached. Please watch and build these Green Walls in your balconies, gardens, working areas and even societies. These DIY Green Walls will not only be a blessing to our environment but will also put to use the hundreds of plastic soda/ cold drink bottles which are polluting the earth.

Solar power in Drip Irrigation

Solar panels can also be used to help in drip irrigation of plants once these are planted. PV solar panels will generate enough electricity for the water pump to water these walls, which will lead to a sustainable use of water and energy.

I have found the perfect summer project for my kid. How about you? Also, check out Solar Powered Toys For Kids to buy this summer!
