Benefits of Online Shopping

E-commerce is the new mantra of today’s world. With the lives of the individuals getting so busy and stressful, online shopping comes in handy for Gen next. In the current 3G era, the Indians are getting exposed to the web world more and more. There are so many companies in India who offer lot of shopping options. With the festive season around the corner a number of online websites like Snapdeal, Amazon and Flipkart are giving many attractive offers to lure the online shoppers. The benefits of online shopping are also many:

i) Comfortable and easy – You don’t have to visit the retail stores and stand in the long queues for trial and payments. You can choose online from your home comfortable environment and order the products and make payments either online or pay cash on delivery – a feature unique to India, since India is largely a cash oriented market. It is thus more convenient for the working masses, who hardly find time these days for family leave alone shopping! Husbands and kids are also happy J, since they do not need to go shopping outside.

ii) Internet users – In India with the advent of 3G technology and smartphones, internet is readily available to a large chunk of the Indian population. India has an internet user base of about 250.2 million as of June 2014 and approximately 10 million online shoppers which is estimated to grow at 30% CAGR (source: Wikipedia). This number is going to increase exponentially and hence a bright future for the online shopping companies. Internet is like oxygen for today’s generation and web browsing is like breathing the air.

iii) Reasonable Pricing – Since the online merchants do not have to pay high rentals on real estate and fat salaries to employees, their prices are very reasonable. I myself tried comparing the prices online and in retail shops (for perfumes and smartphones) and found that online shopping was a cheaper option. Plus there is always something in store for the online shoppers with lucrative offers around the corner.

iv) Poor Infrastructure – The Indian infrastructure in terms of marketing and distribution networks is not so well developed to handle the logistics. Thus e-commerce business is also appreciable here. Also there is no space constraint for the online merchants and hence they have ample of choices for their online customers to browse and choose. They also offer easy return policies in case you do not like the product. Things are very much easy on an online platform.

With the festive season in India drawing close, a lot of the leading online merchants are offering attractive deals ranging from clothes, shoes, fashion accessories, jewellery to all types of electronic appliances and home décor. You can start from scratch and refurbish your dream homes or yourselves with the variety offered. There is literally a “Clash of Online Merchants”, to lure in more and more customers.
