Google as tech giant needs no introduction of its own. From various online services like Gmail, Google maps and Google
Calendar entries to Free Android OS, Google has made its enormous presence felt across the world.

The word Google is now being referred as “searching” in Oxford dictionary, which itself says about the company’s performance and growth since its inception.

“Google Now” challenges Apple’s “Siri”

Currently the giant is bringing “Google Now” technology which will help the users get all information, from weather updates to traffic forecasts. The technology will now be available to iPhone as well. The move is a strategic move to compete head-on with Apple Inc’s “Siri”.

Google Now made its debut last year on mobile devices will be available in a new avatar in the new version of the Google Search app for iPhones and iPads. The personal assistant technology has been increasing manifold. Various Start ups and companies develop such application with an aspiration to play a crucial role on smartphones. The application helps users with daily chores which includes information on the web, handling calendar, tasks, travel plans, etc.

Several companies manufacturing hardware provide the application preloaded in the phone. Apple’s Siri too comes pre-loaded with iPhone and iPad. It is thought of as a strategic move to threaten the growth of Google.

Siri provides general information on common topic which includes (but it is not limited to) sport scores, nearby restaurants, weather, temperature etc. This on-the-move information facilitation would certainly reduce dependency on Google’s search engine. However, on the other hand Google described Google Now to be the next generation evolution in the world of searching business. According to Google, answers are served without questions being actually typed by the user.

Google as a tech giant has entered into several business. They provide various online services from web search, Google maps, to personal email and calendar. Technical advancement helps Google deliver relevant information 24×7 in pop-up windows. It is undoubtedly true that the technological innovation has helped Google grow manifold in all these years since its inception in the business of search.

Google Now is said to be an intelligent tool which will access email of an individual and can remind him/her about upcoming meetings, travel plans etc. well in advance. Not only this, the app also assists in planning the travel and travel time. The application asses the current traffic conditions and based on the calculation estimates a good time to leave and estimates the travel time.

However with implementation of the application in Apple’s iOS the pop-up cards will be made available to the user, only upon opening Google search app unlike the swipe home screen feature available in Android OS.

Google and Apple Technology War

The Apple-Google technology wars in nothing new. It is needless to say that the technology war among the tech giants has taken a toll over the life of common people. The smartphone and the application market have emerged as a key battleground between companies like Apple and Google. It is seen that people increasingly access internet using mobile device like mobile phones, tablets instead of using personal computers. Last year, it was seen that to keep up the brand value and keep the competition going, Apple Inc. removed the pre-installed Google Maps app from iPhones with a new maps app created by Apple in house. However backfiring Apple’s move, the app was an embarrassment for the company as it contained some of the poor errors which drew fierce criticism from consumers and reviewers.

Conclusion

Lastly we can say the world is getting mobilized and tech giants like Samsung, Apple, and Google etc. use technology innovation to roll out products to make the consumers life easy. However the very same technology innovation results in a stiff competition between the players.
