JSW Green Energy enters Indian Solar Developer/Installer Industry Buying 0.5 MW Thin Film CIGs Panels From Troubled Energy Conversion Devices

JSW Green Energy is a subsidiary of the JSW Energy which is one of the bigger private utilities in India.JSW Energy has 1730 MW, of operational generating capacity and 1410 MW of generating capacity in the construction or implementation phase. In addition, it has power generation projects at an early stage under development with a proposed combined installed capacity of 11390 MW by 2015.The company has plans to foray in all areas of power: Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Trading.Note the JSW Group is one of the biggest Steel Groups in the Country and one of the biggest conglomerates as well.JSW is also planning a multi-billion dollar coal to liquid project in the state of Orissa in JV with Sasol.

JSW Energy has set up JSW Green Energy  a 100% subsidiary to enter the renewable energy in India. Not while Wind Power in India is already a huge industry with more than $3 billion in annual investment,Solar Power in India is set to eclipse this soon.JSW Green Energy is looking to set up solar power plants and solar rooftops in the country. For this it has ordered 500 KW of CIGs solar panels from embattled American Thin  Film company Energy Conversion Devices.Note ENER is already under huge pressure as it fails to compete with low cost Chinese players.ENER which markets its BIPV Solar Panels under the United Solar brand sells mostly  in France and Italy which have higher subsidies for BIPV Panels.Like other American companies ECD has significantly ramped down and moved Green Jobs to Mexico in order to survive.Note CIGs Panels are of lower efficiency than the normal mainstream crystalline solar panels.ENER Solar Panels are mostly used in BIPV and BAPV applications since they are not as cost effective and efficient as normal solar panels.Thin Film in India is rapidly increasing penetration with the Thin Film Leader First Solar targeting 100 MW of Solar Panels in 2010 itself which would make it the biggest solar panel supplier in India.

Green Companies in India are increasing rapidly as India needs to install almost 4-5 GW of Renewable Energy each year which means an investment of at least $10 billion each year. While the government has set a target of 17 Gw for 2012-17, that needs to be increased in order for India to meet the CERC target of 15% from Green Energy sources by 2020.

Note other major power generation companies like Lanco and Reliance Power have already won big thermal power projects under JNNSM.Other big Indian companies like NTPC, L&T, BHEL, BEL too are firming up their plans to invest big time in the solar energy industry.Major EPC Companies in India like Punj Lloyd too have won contracts to install solar plants in different parts of the country.

United Solar Announces Order From India’s JSW Green Energy

United Solar, the leading global manufacturer of flexible, thin-film solar laminates and a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD) (Nasdaq:ENER), announced today an order for 500 kilowatts (kWp) of its UNI-SOLAR® laminates from JSW Green Energy, a 100% subsidiary of JSW Energy Ltd. of Mumbai, India.

JSW Green Energy Ltd (JSWGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Ltd, is an independent entity focusing on the development of the renewable energy business in India. JSWGEL is a peak power generator company and currently is engaged in engineering, procurement and construction of rooftop integrated grid-interactive/off-grid solar PV systems. JSWGEL envisages being a leader in the supply, design and installation of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) and building applied photovoltaic (BAPV) products in India. JSWGEL is also in the business of setting up bio-gas based anerobic digesters across the country that would be utilized for cooking and rural electrification purposes.

There is huge scope of solar energy projects. JSW working in Barmer (Barmer) will generate energy first with coal and than after use this land for solar projects. visit my blog on solar ” Barmer the solar power generator in future”
